Operation Fit-Vet Applicants

Operation Fit Vet ApplicantBenefits for American Heroes Foundation developed Operation Fit-Vet for our American Heroes. We want to thank you for your service and do what we can to help. We have teamed up with, or are in the process of teaming up with local group fitness classes to help you get back in shape both physically and mentally.

Operation Fit-Vet is available to all Veterans who incurred physical/mental injury or illness co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. Though we are dedicated to helping Veterans who served after 9-11 all Veterans are welcome to apply and will be chosen on a case by case basis.

We are focused on helping Wounded Veterans who have a BMI of 25 “overweight” or higher. Our goal is to help our Heroes get their BMI down to a “normal” range (18.5 to 24.9) through our holistic approach to fitness.

Once in the program you will need to be able to commit to at least 3 workouts per week. You will need to have you BMI checked prior to entering into the program (prior to application), at the half-way point, and again at the end of the program. You will also be required to provide progress reports to the Benefits for American Heroes. Why do we require BMI and Progress Reports? This helps us determine the effectiveness of Operation Fit-Vet. Through your progress and feedback we will see if any adjustments need to be made to the program. It will also help us obtain funding for future programs.

Here is what you need to do:

• Complete the Operation Fit-Vet Application and attach the required documents.
• Commit to working out at least 3 days per week/following our nutrition guidelines
• Get Fit!
